Who is Pepino the Mini Hwe?
Hailed as the “most talented miniature horse in the world,” Pepino, a six-year-old American Miniature Horse (AMH), is already something of an internet celebrity. If you’re wondering what’s so special about this mini horse besides its small size, then you might be surprised to learn that it can dunk a basketball! Yes, you read that right. One of Pepino’s famous skills is dipping the ball “over the edge” 5 feet despite being only 30 inches tall.
Besides ducking the ball and showing off his athletic ability, Pepino’s other talents include answering the phone, sitting in a chair, saying “yes” and “no”. blow a kiss, and even open a mailbox or a cupboard. He was named after the farmhand from the 1950s show, “The Real McCoys”, Pepino Garcia. Pepino’s trainer/partner David Lichman was inspired to teach the mini horse how to dunk a ball after watching “Mister Ed”.
Lichman is one of the highest rated instructors at Pat Parelli’s institute. “I travel all over the world to help people achieve extraordinary results with horses. Pat’s teaching system has taken me from Vancouver to Virginia and from Hawaii to Heidelberg. I have handled thousands of horses in hundreds of clinics, of all breeds and disciplines,” he shared on his website. Lichman won the World Grand Championship.
Thanks to Pepino’s dipping skills, he even tried to become the Sacramento Kings mascot! You can find out more about Pepino and his many hidden talents here and here. We can’t wait to see Pepino’s talents on ‘AGT’.
