In all, Block Club received three awards in an annual competition run by Editor and Publisher, a trade magazine that covers newspapers and other news sources. Organizations from all over the world submit entries to the competition, which is judged by professional journalists.

“The Block Club Chicago epitomizes what online media should be – packed with valuable local information and packaged in an easy-to-consume format,” one judge wrote.
Block Club was also awarded for having the best overall website design among publishers with 1 million or more unique visitors. It also received the top spot for Best Website Redesign / Relaunch.
