FOXBOROUGH – Mac Jones had his worst game as an NFL quarterback on Sunday, looking more like a rookie than his first two starts. The Patriots first-round pick had a bit of bad luck, but made more bad throws and bad decisions than he had before.

With the Patriots lagging behind, Jones was forced to throw more, completing 33 of 51 passes for 270 yards. He threw a touchdown pass and three interceptions and finished with a quarterback rating of 55.1. His score and completion percentage (58.8) are the two lowest of the season.

This day is largely on par with what we’ve seen from rookie quarterbacks so far. Here’s a look at the other freshman quarterbacks across two games:

  • No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence completed 22 of 34 assists and kept the Jaguars competitive against a very good Cardinals team. He was 22 for 34 for 219 yards, one touchdown with two interceptions and a 68.1 passer rating. He now has 66 for 118 for 669 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions for the winless Jacksonville (0-3).
  • Jets QB Zach Wilson was better than throwing four picks against New England, but still struggled in a 26-0 loss to Denver. He was 19 for 35 for 160 yards and was intercepted twice. He’s 58-for-105 for 628 yards with two touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.
  • Justin Fields struggled during his first career start in the NFL. He completed just 6 of 20 passes for 68 yards without any touchdowns or interceptions. His score was 41.3. He rushed three times for 12 yards. According to coach Matt Nagy, Fields could have a hand injury.
  • Davis Mills, Houston’s second-round pick at Stanford, had one of the best performances of a rookie this season when he made his first start on Thursday. With Tyrod Taylor out due to injury, he was under center in Thursday’s loss to Carolina. Mills completed 19 of 28 passes for 168 yards. He threw a touchdown and was not intercepted for a 57.2 quarterback rating.
