Odegaard excited about Arteta’s Arsenal project – Arseblog news

Martin Odegaard says he enjoys life under Mikel Arteta and firmly believes Arsenal have the right person in the dugout to guide them to the top.

On loan from Real Madrid until the end of the season, the Norwegian international has already won the confidence of the Spaniard who noted just a few weeks ago how impressed he was with the player’s character on and off the pitch.

It seems the feelings are mutual with the 22-year-old speaking glowingly about Arteta’s training style.

“It’s amazing, he is a top manager,” said the midfielder BT Sport ahead of Saturday’s clash with Burnley.

“He’s really smart, really smart and there’s so much I can learn from him, so I’m just happy to be here and to be able to learn and see how he works.”

Odegaard’s decision to move to London was also heavily influenced by Arteta’s playing philosophy.

“It was really a lot of things: first of all the manager and his ideas, the way he wants to play football.

“I think his style of play suits me very well. Also all about the club, I always liked the club and the way they played and I always followed the club.

“When I was younger I watched a lot of games and every time Arsenal played I wanted to watch. So it’s a club that I have always watched very closely and everything has done me good.

Odegaard was also pleasantly surprised with the state of the squad given the club’s league position when he joined.

“The club are now in a process where things have changed a bit, but what I have seen and experienced here gives me the guarantee that the club will be back on top very soon.

“I think we have some very good players at the club and some great talents.

“They showed it in the Premier League and it’s the biggest league in the world so I think they’re on top in terms of talent and quality. When you see the way they play it’s amazing .

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can persuade Real Madrid to extend Odegaard’s loan beyond this season. For now, the player, who moved to the Bernabeu at the age of 16, keeps his cards close to his chest.

“To be honest, I’m just focusing on the end of the season here and doing the best I can,” he said. “In the future, we’ll see what happens. Right now I’m really happy to be here and my focus is on helping the team to finish the season well.

He added: “Obviously the Europa League is a big thing for us this year, so we’ll try to do our best there. Then we’ll see where we are. Of course the Champions League is a goal. important to everyone here.
