Online reviews benefit doctors by improving search results, online visibility, and patient confidence by providing information that leaves patients confident in their choice of doctor.

“I encourage all doctors to consider using online reviews as a way to improve your overall reputation, increase your business, look good to patients, and build trust, even if it’s a bit uncomfortable and it’s not something you’re familiar with.” Orrin I. frankodoctor, founder of SurgiSurvey LLC and board-certified orthopedic surgeon at East Bay Hand Medical Center, Healio told Healio. “Consider that it’s widespread and shouldn’t be scary.”

Franko noted that online reviews can be valuable for doctors at any stage of their career because they bring more value to the practice and provide doctors with a good reputation.

To receive reviews, doctors must create an online profile on a review site, such as Google, Yelp, Healthgrades or Vitals, which Franko noted is free to do. Once the profile is set up, Franko said doctors will receive a link that they can share with patients via email or text.

“It’s hard for an office to do it alone, but there are so many third-party companies that can do it for you and it’s not expensive,” Franko said. “They will email patients on your behalf and ask them to seek five-star reviews. This is how you will improve your grades online. If you don’t ask, you won’t get them.
